EFT can be very effective for animals with behavioural or anxiety-related problems, traumatic experiences or in emotional distress, and most animals respond very well to it. EFT is applied directly to the animal (horses and dogs) or through surrogate tapping by the owner (cats).

"Surrogate tapping" means that the animal's owner taps on his or her own body while focusing on the animal and its problem.
